Ruth Simms Ellis

About Ruth

Ruth has a first class honours degree in Psychology from the University of Leeds, and an MSc in Occupational Psychology (Distinction) from Leicester University where she was awarded the Rob Stammers award for outstanding academic achievement. During her time with Leicester University, she completed research into line managers’ experiences of supporting staff with mental health problems. She is a graduate member of the British Psychological Society and the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies. She also holds a Level A certificate in Psychological Testing.

In addition to her consultancy work, Ruth has worked as a trainer, lecturer, mental health clinician and researcher. She holds certificates in Counselling and Teaching Adult Learners, and has undergone specialist training in dealing with challenging behaviour, the assessment and treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing.

Ruth has worked within Financial Services, the Civil Service, in Retailing, universities, colleges and schools, and within the Military.

She is the author of several published research papers (see below) and has spoken at a number of events and conferences on work-related mental health issues.

Ruth is married with a young daughter. She enjoys singing and performs locally with her guitarist friend Ben. She is also a member of two choirs and has recently performed in an international festival in Budapest.
